NAACP Ruby McKnight Williams Awards Honors Muir Principal Dr. Lawton Gray III



Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) congratulate Dr. Lawton Gray III, John Muir High School principal, who has been selected for a prestigious award from the NAACP Pasadena. Dr. Gray will be honored as an Excellent Educator at the 35th annual NAACP Ruby McKnight Williams Awards Dinner on March 21, 2024. Ms. Williams served her community for decades and worked as branch president for several years. The award in her honor is given to those who demonstrate excellence in community service.

An alumnus of John Muir, Dr. Gray is a 26-year educator and joined PUSD in July of 2017 from the Temple City Unified School District. Gray was named the 2011 Administrator of the Year by the California Association of School Counselors. Dr. Gray has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Southern California. He has a Master’s degree in Education Leadership from Point Loma Nazarene University and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Morehouse College. He earned an administrative services credential from Point Loma Nazarene University and a California clear credential from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
