Nonprofit Partners with Pasadena Unified to Bring a Physical Activity Program to Elementary Schools

To celebrate its partnership with the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) and to spread awareness about its nonprofit mission to build healthy, confident youth through physical activity, Catz SOLE will be hosting a Family FUN Field Day event Saturday, June 8 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Catz facility at 801 South Raymond Avenue in Pasadena.

Let the games begin with relay races, obstacle courses, tug-of-war, sack races and more! This event is free and open to adults and kids of all ages. Bring your friends, neighbors, teachers and the whole family. There will also be raffle drawings, healthy snacks and more information about the Catz SOLE program.

An industry leader in sports performance and fitness, Catz combines the knowledge and expertise of certified strength and conditioning specialists, physical therapists, athletic trainers, nutritionists, and biomechanical analysts to craft physical activity programs that empower individuals to improve their physical fitness and overall well-being. For nearly two decades, Catz has trained and rehabilitated countless athletes, including professional, Olympic and youth athletes, as well as adults and children striving to live healthy, active lifestyles.

Catz has been on the forefront of an effort to motivate youth and families around physical activity. The overwhelming decline in youth physical activity, the rise in childhood obesity, and the severe decline in school physical education programs prompted Catz to create Catz SOLE. The nonprofit launched its first pilot physical activity program in 2012, the following year the pilot expanded, and for the 2014-2015 school year, Catz SOLE has partnered with PUSD to bring their signature Catz Physical Activity Program to multiple elementary schools in the fall.

Jim Liston, founder of Catz, is one of the country’s leading experts on creating and delivering exercise programs for children and inspiring kids to embrace the benefits of physical activity. As executive director of Catz SOLE, Jim will host the Family FUN Field Day on June 8 and share his passion for motivating kids and adults alike through physical activity.
