Pasadena Educational Foundation’s Summer Enrichment 2026 Week Two Highlights

Students participating in the Pasadena Educational Foundation’s Summer Enrichment program are gaining a deeper understanding of where their food comes from through hands-on science and gardening activities.

In Regina Major’s Garden to Table Cooking class, one of the summer’s key lessons explores the growth cycle of the plants people eat every day. During a classroom experiment, students used celery stalks and food coloring to observe how plants absorb water through their roots and transport it through their veins, demonstrating how water and nutrients move throughout the plant.

As students continue growing their plants throughout the summer, they will develop a greater understanding of plant growth, nutrition, and the conditions needed for healthy development.
