Pasadena Educational Foundation’s Summer Enrichment Program 2024

5 weeks of exploration, discovery and summer fun!

The PEF Summer Enrichment Program provides K-12 students exceptional learning opportunities combined with summer fun with more than 80 unique classes on 4 campuses serving 1,000 students. The 2024 Summer Program will run from June 10 to July 11 at the McKinley, Field, and Jackson campuses.

The summer program, in its 21st year, offers hands-on exploration opportunities to perform, explore, create, and strategize for students entering grades TK-12. Students choose from 80 exceptional classes held on multiple Pasadena-area campuses. More than 100 Youth Leaders, from local high schools and colleges, volunteer to mentor students and support teachers and staff while gaining valuable work-related experience.

Classes include art, science, music, sports, math, language arts, dual language classes in 3 languages (Spanish, Mandarin, & French), and so much more. We’ll even have many of your favorite classes returning like Imaginary Lands, Robotics, Chess, and the Pasadena Musical Theatre Program!

• Intro Classes for TK, Kinder, 1st Grade, & 2nd Grade

Students are supported by caring educators as they create and learn. Teachers use grade level benchmarks blended with art, music, and science to make learning fun. Students should be 5 years old by September 1 for Intro to Kindergarten; 6 years old by September 1 for Intro to First Grade; and 7 years old by September 1 for Intro to Second Grade. This summer, Intro to TK is only available for Spanish Immersion, and is for potty-trained students who are 4 years old by June 2, 2024.

• 2nd to 9th Grade

Students choose 3 classes to support their learning and grow their interests. Class options vary by campus and include robotics, musical theater, gardening, tennis, art studio, and more. Enrollment is based on the grade a student will be entering in Fall 2024.

Tuition assistance is available for qualifying families.

AFTERSCHOOL CARE

• PEF Afternoon Camp

PEF’s Afternoon Camp, available at McKinley and Field, is geared toward supplementing the learning in the morning with exploratory activities in the afternoon. Every student will have the same class activities that will include art, fitness, and discovery. To be eligible for afternoon care, students must participate in the morning component. Students must stay on-site the whole time, and cannot be brought back for additional programming once they leave. Classes will be led by aspiring teachers with a lead teacher available onsite. Tuition assistance available to qualifying students.

• Pasadena LEARNs

PEF is proud to once again partner with Pasadena LEARNs to provide afternoon care to students on-site at our Jackson campus. Families will need to complete a separate registration with LEARNs. Please contact their office with more information about specific program offerings and activities.

• Boys & Girls Club

This summer, PEF is partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena to provide an additional option to families at Jackson. BGCP will pick up students from Jackson and transport them to their Mackenzie-Scott Clubhouse. Families will need to complete a separate registration with the Boys & Girls Club. Please contact their office for more information.
