Pasadena Unified Students Triumph at 2026 District Spelling Bee

Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) celebrated all the talented spellers who competed in the 2026 District Spelling Bee held at Webster Elementary School. Students in grades 4 through 8 from across the district showcased their exceptional spelling skills in this highly competitive academic event. Mithran Kaushik, a fifth-grader from Sierra Madre Elementary School, earned first place by correctly spelling the word “uvula.” Mithran will represent PUSD at the Los Angeles County spelling competition on March 18, where the district will be cheering him on.

The district also celebrated Bodhi Jain, a seventh-grader from Sierra Madre Middle School, who won second place, and Jonathan Burroughs, a sixth-grader from Octavia E. Butler Magnet, who placed third. These outstanding young scholars demonstrated not only their mastery of language but also their dedication, poise, and commitment to academic excellence. The Pasadena Unified School District extends its congratulations to all participants who made this year’s spelling bee a tremendous success.
