Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) is proud to share even more good news about its students’ success in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. Following the recent announcement of several PUSD students receiving national recognition, two additional scholars are being honored for their academic excellence.

Joel Griffin of Blair High School has been named a 2025 National Merit Semifinalist, placing him among the top high school scholars in the nation. This prestigious recognition not only celebrates his academic achievement but also gives him the opportunity to advance in the competition for National Merit Scholarships.

Adding to PUSD’s list of honorees, Dylan Obseneras, Thurgood Marshall Class of 2026, has received a National Merit Scholarship Program Letter of Commendation. This award recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional promise through their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Dylan’s commendation highlights both his hard work and his strong academic potential.

PUSD celebrates Joel and Dylan for their remarkable accomplishments and extends gratitude to the families, teachers, and school communities who continue to support their success. With each recognition, PUSD students demonstrate that they are prepared to shine on a national stage.
