Ramona Convent Earns 2025-2026 STEM School of Excellence Award from the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA)
ITEEA is thrilled to announce that Ramona Convent Secondary School has received STEM School of Excellence Recognition for demonstrating their commitment to providing a robust Integrative STEM program that is truly “Making Waves.” ITEEA reviewers were particularly inspired by a specific highlight from the application submission, “The stained-glass project lets students explore art and engineering while learning about the sacraments. Guided by Theology teacher Ms. Michelle Herrera, they designed and built colored acrylic pieces and crafted wooden stands using scroll saws. Along the way, students learned about shapes, colors, design, and tool safety, connecting faith with hands-on, meaningful learning.”
This recognition is a testament to the dedication and innovation of Ramona’s educators and administrators who strive to deliver meaningful Technology, Engineering, and STEM education to their students, harnessing the forces advancing technology, engineering, and STEM learning. Ramona underwent a rigorous application process, showcasing their exemplary STEM programs and best practices. The recognition not only highlights their achievements but also serves as an inspiration for other institutions to enhance their own STEM education initiatives as the tides shift in modern pedagogy. Ramona highlights the critical role that schools play in nurturing the next generation of innovators and problem solvers.
Ramona is the only school in California to receive this prestigious award and has been invited to attend the ITEEA’s 88th Annual Conference and Reception where they’ll receive an official banner to prominently display on their 19-acre campus in Alhambra.
