Ramona Convent Student-Athlete Signs National Letter of Intent



Ramona is excited to congratulate student-athlete Emily Ibarra ’23 on signing her national letter of intent with the Simmons University volleyball program! Emily shared this amazing accomplishment in a special signing ceremony with administrators, friends, and family.

Emily has been playing volleyball since she was 10 years old. She’s been a Varsity Tiger all four years at Ramona as Libero/DS. She’s earned the Carly E. Cruz Volleyball Scholarship, Ramona Convent Defensive MVP for two years, 1st Team All-League for two years, League Champ, and League MVP. This year, she was awarded the Poly Varsity All-Tournament Award.

Emily said “I’m looking forward to applying all the valuable lessons learned throughout my high school and club volleyball career in college. And I’m excited about gaining new experiences and skills to bring back home to my club team for the future generation of volleyball players.”

Off the court, Emily is a member of the Philomathean Honor Society and Ramona Ambassadors. She’s earned the Tiger Star Service Award for dedicating 100 hours as a Coach, Ramona Camp Counselor, and Student Ambassador.

This year, Emily was inspired by her AP Chemistry class and plans to study Chemistry at Simmons and is planning to take a Pre-Med track or earn her degree in Chemical Engineering.

Emily shared “I’d like to thank the Ramona community. Ramona offered me a home to grow into the person I am today and gave me the courage to pursue my dreams. Thank you to the amazing friends that I’ve gained here and to my parents for being my #1 fans.”
