Ramona Convent’s Annual Junior Ring Ceremony, A Cherished Tradition

The Junior Ring Ceremony is a long-standing and cherished tradition. Planned by the senior class, the ceremony is designed to remind both classes of the meaning of the rings, the importance of the Ramona sisterhood and the bond that exists between the two classes. After a reading of “Phenomenal Woman” by Maya Angelou, Viviana M., Senior Class President, congratulated the juniors on taking part in the special ceremony, and praised them all for being phenomenal women.

One by one, as their names were read, each junior came forward to receive the traditional yellow rose and their school ring from a senior, while proud family members looked on. Junior President Valeria T. thanked the seniors and everyone who made the event so special for her and her classmates. Sr. Kathleen concluded the event by reminding both classes of the commitment that their ring symbolizes.

A commitment to live up to the values they’ve learned here at Ramona, to show respect for themselves and others, to live up to their own sense of personal integrity, to use their God-given talents for the benefit of others, to remain connected to their school after they graduate, and, above all, to be faithful to their God who loves them and keeps them in existence. As part of the celebration, the juniors got the afternoon off to go and celebrate with their families.
