Sequoyah School Celebrates Dia de Los Muertos

Dia de Los Muertos is a moment to honor ancestors and those in our family and community who have passed on. It emerged from an Aztec ritual known as Miccaihuitl, and Miccaihuitl was an honoring of the dead, in conjunction with the time for harvesting. This time is an opportunity for families to create altars (ofrendas) for their loved ones. The history of the practice is rooted in the idea that… “if we remember our loved ones, they never cease to exist”.
