Sequoyah School Mom Teaches Mexican Street Food Cooking Workshop

Sequoyah School mom, Irma Ruiz, volunteered her time and expertise to teach a workshop in Marisol’s Street Food class on how to make memelas, which are also called huaraches or tlacoyos. This style of black bean filled thick tortilla is from Puebla, México. Field studies brought out the camping stoves, and everyone had an absolute blast shaping masa balls, using tortilla presses, and cooking their memelas on the grills. They were so delicious! “A giant Sequoyah thank you to Irma for spending time with the students!”
