Serving with Purpose: Maranatha Students Shine in Puerto Rico

Despite a delayed start, the recent mission trip to Puerto Rico turned into a powerful experience of faith, fellowship, and service for 13 Maranatha students and three staff chaperones.

Serving with Inglesia Wesleyana de Santurce in San Juan, the team immersed themselves in hands-on projects—pulling weeds, preparing fences for painting, restoring a community garden, and distributing flyers for the church’s upcoming summer camp.

Students also stepped into leadership roles, hosting a vibrant Vacation Bible School where they taught stories like “Jesus leaving the 99 for the 1” and “David and Goliath.” Through crafts, games, and joyful play, they shared the love of Christ with local children.

The mission continued at a second church, where students landscaped, painted fences and walls, and painted a mural in the children’s classroom, leaving their mark—literally—with colorful handprints and heartfelt messages.

The trip concluded with a historical tour of Old San Juan and a refreshing snorkeling excursion at Icacos Beach. The group’s hotel was just a short walk from the ocean, allowing for moments of rest and reflection throughout the week.

This trip was more than a service opportunity—it was a living expression of Maranatha’s mission to equip students through service, faith, and cultural engagement. Our students returned with new friendships, unforgettable memories, and a deeper understanding of God’s work in the world.
