Shaping Creative Futures: CAMAD at Pasadena High School

Creative Arts, Media, and Design (CAMAD) at Pasadena High School (Pasadena, CA) is a dynamic four-year pathway designed for students who want to turn creativity into real-world skills and future opportunities. Through a thoughtful blend of academic coursework and hands-on art and design projects, CAMAD prepares students to pursue careers in art and design or continue their studies at leading art and design colleges.
Students begin with a foundational introductory year in 9th grade, then choose to specialize in one of two focused disciplines: Visual Arts and Design or Graphic Communications Arts. Throughout the program, students are encouraged to think creatively, solve problems, and express ideas visually while gaining practical experience that mirrors professional creative environments. From developing original artwork to completing client-based projects, students build confidence and a strong creative voice.
CAMAD’s comprehensive curriculum exposes students to a wide range of artistic and technical skills, including fine arts, graphic design, multimedia design, video editing, screen printing, digital printing, sculpture, and illustration. Using state-of-the-art facilities on campus, students progress from introductory computer graphics and foundational art principles to advanced design techniques. This intentional progression allows students to graduate with a polished, well-rounded portfolio that reflects both technical ability and personal style.
By integrating art and design with a college-preparatory curriculum, CAMAD ensures students receive a solid academic foundation while gaining a deeper understanding of how art and design function in society, media, and industry. Graduates leave the program equipped not only with creative and technological skills, but also with strong communication abilities and a clear sense of how their talents can shape their future.
