South Pasadena High School Proudly Recognizes 2027 National Merit Semifinalists

On September 9, 2026, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the semifinalists in the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Semifinalists qualify by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and earning among the highest scores in the state. SPHS semifinalists join more than 16,000 qualifying students nationwide and represent less than one percent of U.S high school seniors nationally competing for about 6,700 scholarships.

Congratulations to Finnian Harrington, Tianhan Huang, Claire Jin, Conor Kelly Gerakos, Abigail Kim, Luke Liu, Will Schwartz, Fredrik Wong, and Jerry Zhang. These exceptional seniors now have the opportunity to compete for National Merit scholarships, which will be announced in Spring 2027.
