South Pasadena High School Virtual Enterprise Teams Earn Multiple Awards at National Competition



Virtual Enterprise National Competitions showcase some of the best and brightest student leaders and budding entrepreneurs in the country. After receiving top honors in local and regional competitions during the school year, the following SPHS teams earned national recognition during the Championship Round on April 21, 2021.

In the National Finance Competition, the SPHS students Joseph Broderick and Matthew Baer placed first in the nation.

In the National Business Plan Competition consisting of more than 300 teams, the SPHS Varsity Team, PEBBLY, placed fourth in the nation. Team Members are Mahal Montes, Michelle Jee, Mollie Parker, Olivia Yanover, Jason Kim, and Matteo Lee.

Also in the National Business Plan Competition, the SPHS Junior Varsity Team, MyMeals, placed fifth in the nation. Team Members are Jason Liu, Quentin Holmes, Kiyan Gerami, Diana Perea, Leo Barrera, and Aidan Bar-Cohen.

The SPHS Intro to Virtual Team, TAZA, placed first in California at the SkillsUSA Entrepreneurship (Business Plan competition). Team Members are Annalea Pearson, Avik Gautam, Oscar Cassidy, and Isha Zafra.

Competitions offer Virtual Enterprise students unique opportunities to develop and demonstrate career readiness competencies in different business domains, generate business for their Virtual Enterprise firms, garner real-world feedback from a diverse pool of judges, and evaluate performance compared to peers on a national level.
