St. Gregory A. & M. Hovsepian School 6th Graders Wraps at the First Quarter at AGBU Innovation Studios

Throughout the last 12 weeks, the St. Gregory A. & M. Hovsepian School 6th grade students attended AGBU Innovation Studios’ makerspace to work on scientific inventions as a part of their science curriculum. They also researched Armenian music, instruments, cultural events and spaces, and collaborated with others for their projects.

The end result? Creation of site-specific sculptures that engage attention through the interactive production of sound. The presentations showcasing their Musical Intervention projects were so impressive!

Some projects included:
• The Chilly Bean: Cools workers in factories while producing pleasing tones, inspired by the pipe organ.
• The XyloTrain: Designed to pick up trash while producing musical melodies.
• The Mecho Drum: Uses a hand pedal and shaker boxes to produce rhythmic sounds modeled after a kick drum and shaker.

Stay tuned for St. Gregory A. & M. Hovsepian School 7th and 8th-grade innovators!
