Stratford Altadena Celebrates 8th Grade Graduates and Prestigious High School Acceptances

Stratford School Altadena is celebrating its second class of 8th-grade graduates as they officially announce their high school choices! The future is bright for these young Stratford Lions as they take this next step in their educational journey. Many of these students have been with Stratford since preschool, during the founding years of Stratford’s first Southern California location.

With each year, Stratford’s middle school program has grown, and this year’s students are showcasing the results of their hard work with acceptances at such esteemed high schools as Harvard-Westlake, Flintridge Prep, California School of the Arts, and La Salle College Preparatory. The school’s commitment to excellence is reflected in a 100% acceptance rate across all highlighted institutions, most notably demonstrated by graduate Ella Ayvazyan’s acceptances to Flintridge Prep, Polytechnic School, and Oakwood Secondary School, and her decision to attend Harvard-Westlake, a first for the growing campus. Other graduates will also continue their academic journeys at top schools, with Harvey Lee attending Flintridge Prep, and Aydan Robledo and Jerry Xu enrolling at La Salle. Gwenny Saengphaibul has decided to pursue her talent in performing arts at the esteemed CSArts, known for its pre-professional arts training and elite ranking for academic excellence in California.

Stratford Middle School students have also demonstrated their impressive science talents, taking home two awards at this year’s Los Angeles Science and Engineering Fair hosted by USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering at the Shrine Auditorium. Mentored by their middle school science teacher, Viraji Weerasena, 7th-grade students Jaydan Robledo and Narinder Badhan II were awarded the James E. Roberts Award of Excellence from the Professional Engineers in California Government for their project on Bridges and Disasters. The pair will receive a glass trophy, a certificate, and will receive $500 each as part of their prize. An awards ceremony will be held at the California Department of Transportation, where their plaque will be displayed. Additionally, 8th-grade student Jerry Xu earned a 2nd Place Award in the Junior Division of Applied Chemistry for his project on Bioplastics.

In middle school, Stratford’s innovative STEAM curriculum concentrates on building strong academic foundations and developing a solid growth mindset. During these pivotal years, Stratford students focus on critical thinking, problem solving, collaborating with peers, contributing to their community through charitable giving and service, and building solid leadership skills. These skills help develop the independence and confidence these young scholars need to succeed in high school, college, and beyond. Stratford’s programs are balanced by design, offering an advanced education in a welcoming and supportive environment that is uplifting and joyful.

With a smaller class size, Stratford students receive individual attention to support their unique learning journeys. Recognizing that they have distinct interests and dreams, Stratford works to support these aspirations, help them realize their full potential, and develop a lifelong love of learning from early preschool through grade 8.

Stratford is also enrolling in summer programs that are open to the entire community. Offering Day Camps, Kindergarten Prep Camp, and Academic Camps for Elementary and Middle School, with weekly and extended-day options. Visit StratfordSchools.com/summer to explore options.
