The 4th Annual High Point Fall Family Picnic: A Day of Fun, Food, and Community!

Balloon animals and face painting, the BIG slide and bounce house, hot dogs, tacos, Wetzel’s Pretzels, and Kona Ice — these were the sights, sounds, and delicious aromas of the 4th Annual High Point Fall Family Picnic! It was a beautiful — and very warm — Veteran’s Day celebration as more than 300 members of the HPA community came together for an afternoon of fun and connection.

Kids wasted no time diving into the excitement — bouncing, sliding, and laughing their way through the inflatable attractions. They competed in hula hoop, limbo, and tug-of-war contests, and raced across the field in classic potato sack style. Everywhere you looked, balloon-animal creations bobbed through the crowd and smiling faces showed off some truly impressive face-paint designs.

The Bake-Off Competition was another highlight, featuring 10 creative entries vying for the coveted 2025 HPA aprons. Congratulations to this year’s winners!

  • Taste: Early & Nileen A.
  • Presentation: Mari & Elena O.
  • Originality: Kristen O. & Olivia S.

A heartfelt thank-you to our amazing Picnic Chairs, Kate Hossain and Katrina Yuille, and to the hardworking Picnic Committee — Tian Lei, Vanessa Bell, and Nick Hutzler — for planning such a wonderful event. Special thanks to Kate and Sai Hossain for treating everyone to Wetzel’s Pretzels, and to Kate once again for designing the beautiful photo backdrop! We’re also grateful to Dorenda Wong and Takashi Cheng for donating Kona Ice to keep us cool, and to Brent Schoenbaum for lending his time (and muscle) for setup.

Finally, thank you to our incredible Junior High and parent volunteers who helped the day run seamlessly, and to all of our HPA families for turning out in such great numbers.

We can’t wait to gather again next year for another memorable Fall Family Picnic!
