Washington Elementary STEM Magnet Teachers Explore Central Valley Agriculture

Eight teachers from Washington Elementary STEM Magnet spent three days in California’s Central Valley exploring agriculture firsthand, visiting farms and dairies while engaging in conversations with industry experts and multigenerational farming families. The immersive experience gave educators a deeper understanding of the science, technology, sustainability, and innovation that drive California’s agricultural industry. They are excited to bring these real-world experiences back to their classrooms and help students connect agriculture to learning across all subject areas.

The professional learning opportunity also provided teachers with new ideas for hands-on lessons and cross-curricular projects that make classroom learning more meaningful. By experiencing the industry firsthand, they gained valuable insights they can use to inspire curiosity and strengthen students’ understanding of the important role agriculture plays in everyday life.
