Holidays are a tricky subject for 2020. The majority of us want to escape the lockdowns and enjoy some fun. Unfortunately, not everyone has the ability to getaway in a safe manner. Lucky for you, there are ways to enjoy the weekend from within the comfort of your home. Here are 11 virtual events you can attend without dressing up during this Labor Day Weekend.

Feeling Challenged by Technology? Help is Available

Through a collaboration with Pasadena Public Library, get solutions to technology issues, learn how to use Zoom, and much more. All weekend participants can ask any kind of technology-related questions and get immediate help! Fro(zen) Fridays: Meditation & Yoga

Open and free to all (first come, first serve). Free yoga mat and fruit pop for pickup with registration. Pickups will be at Jackie Robinson Center the week of the event. This event is made possible by the Innovation (INN) 2 Grant: Developing Trauma Resilient Communities through Community Capacity Building. Registration for the free yoga mats are full, but if you’d like to just attend the virtual yoga session, add your info to the waitlist and we’ll send you the zoom login.

Making a Personal Dropbox with Angular and Firebase

GDG Cloud Pasadena is going to show you how to build our own Dropbox: it’ll be a personal website where you can drag and drop files to upload, download, and share with friends. They will be using Angular, Firebase, and a little bit of luck.

Botanical Pasadena (Virtual)

Pasadena’s plants and trees help everyone to understand historical trends, conceptions (and misconceptions) about the climate, as well as the hidden stories of the people who shaped the landscape and lived their lives within it. In 2005, Arlington Garden opened on a CalTrans-owned lot that had been lovingly transformed by volunteers into Pasadena’s only dedicated public garden. On this virtual tour, participants will explore the shady pathways of the Garden and learn about the layers of Pasadena’s history reflected in its dense foliage! This is a virtual tour experience with a live guide. The Zoom link will be provided upon registration. This virtual tour is a collaboration with Arlington Garden, in honor of their 15th anniversary.

Seed Library Presentation – “Saving Seeds From Summer, Preparing for the Fall”

In this virtual Seed Library gathering, Altadena Seed Library Coordinator, Jessica Yarger, will explain the processes for dry and wet seed saving from your summer garden. Have a garden tomato on hand, a jar or glass, and some water, and you can get started with saving your tomato seeds right along with her. Jessica will also be introducing a new seed saving project that seed library members can participate in.

Stone Brewing Beerogpraphy – Virtual Beer Tasting

Stone Brewing Co (SBC) presents the Stone Brewing Beerogpraphy – Virtual Beer Tasting! The Legendary Tale of Stone Brewing Co is an interactive journey looking at the last 25 years of the breweries wild ride in the beer industry as told through beer by the brewers, customers, and workers of Stone Brewing Co. SBC take an in-depth approach as they share the rise of one of the most iconic breweries in the world. Participants taste through 10 of the beers that defined their history as well as some special releases and talk to some of the people that made it all possible. Each beer will represent a certain time frame in the brewery. All tickets include the delivery of the 10 featured beers from Stone Brewing Co, swag from the brewery, and a Green Gargoyle Stone Pint Glass. The documentary will be premiered on September 5th with live chat. The beer documentary can be accessed for the entire month of September for all ticket holders. When you buy your ticket, your case of 10 Beers will be shipped directly to your door. You must be 21+ to accept the delivery.
