New for 2021 is the F Sport Black Line trim on the Lexus NX 300h. It is a limited production with only 1,000 of the Black Line’s available and it’s hot! With a unique front grille and color-matched fenders, sport-tuned suspension and blue interior accent stitching, the NX 300h F Sport Black Line is a thing of beauty.

The engine on the NX 300h is a hybrid system with a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine combined with a hybrid system delivering 194 horsepower. The engine is combined with an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission. All-Wheel drive is included on all NX 300h trim levels. Expect to get 30/city, 33/highway, and 31/combined mpg.

The NX 300h is available in three trim levels: base, Luxury and F Sport Black Line, this review focuses on the F Sport Black Line.

Some of the standard equipment highlights are: 8-inch touchpad display, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, power-adjustable front seats and steering wheel, LED headlight, foglights and running lights and an eight-speaker sound system.

As noted earlier the Black Line portion adds, a sport-tuned suspension, unique exterior trim, front grille and color matched fenders, heated and ventilated front seats, front and rear parking sensors, and a heated steering wheel.

The interior of the NX 300h is full of high-quality materials and comfortable seating for all passengers. Due to its SUV-like dimensions, the NX 300h is easy to get in and out of. I was not fond of the tech interface which is operated either through a touchscreen or knob located on the center console. It’s very involved and takes concentration, not something one wants to do while driving. The voice controls can be used for a lot of functions (nav, phone, entertainment, climate control) once the system learns the user’s voice.

With a boost from the electric motor, the NX 300h gets a good head of steam going around town. And for a compact SUV, it makes its way around curves with confidence.

Want luxury and fuel economy? Give the 2021 Lexus NX 300h F Sport Black Line a test drive.
