Pasadena is set to come alive with the rhythmic pulse of boxing gloves and the electric energy of an eagerly waiting crowd. The City of Pasadena Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department presents its 8th Annual Centennial Square Boxing Show, taking place right in front of the iconic City Hall at 100 N. Garfield Ave. The event is slated for Friday, August 25, and will run from 7 to 10 p.m.
Beyond being a mere sporting event, the Centennial Square Boxing Show has grown into a community favorite, pulling families and boxing enthusiasts together for an evening of camaraderie and competition. The event is entirely free, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy Olympic-style boxing in all its glory. The night promises 12 bouts of intense action, showcasing both male and female competitors, starting from the budding age of 8 and above.
Boxing isn’t just about the adrenaline or the competition; it’s a celebration of physical and mental discipline, strength, and well-being. It teaches focus, determination, and resilience – attributes that especially resonate with the youth, making boxing an excellent avenue for them to channel their energy and passion.
The evening isn’t just about the bouts though. Setting the tone for the event, the national anthem will ring out, followed by a color guard presentation executed with precision and pride by Pasadena’s very own 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, attendees will be treated to the lively beats of a DJ. Those with a penchant for vintage aesthetics are in for a treat as well, with classic cars slated to be on display. As the matches heighten appetites, there will also be a range of delicious food available for purchase.
