Published on Apr 21, 2023

Cheese lovers, mark your calendars for Thursday, April 27th at 6:00 p.m. for an exciting pairing class at Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery in Pasadena. Co-taught by Head Cheese Vanessa Tilaka and author Steve Jones, this class will feature pairings from Jones’ book, “Cheese Beer Wine Cider: A Field Guide to 75 Perfect Pairings,” as well as specialty products brought in just for the occasion.

Not only will attendees get to indulge in delicious cheese and beverage pairings, but each ticket includes a signed copy of Steve Jones’ book, making it the perfect opportunity for cheese and beverage enthusiasts to expand their knowledge and collection.

Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery is the brainchild of Thomas Tilaka Kalb and Vanessa Tilaka, who bring their extensive culinary expertise to this restaurant. The menu features re-imagined family dishes, while the beverage list offers a balance of classic and up-and-coming options. The bar program includes thoughtfully crafted cocktails made with seasonal produce, fresh juices, and house-made ingredients.

Located in the historic district of Pasadena, the restaurant is housed in a former horse stable of the Pasadena Fire Department, built in 1922. Architect Oonagh Ryan/ORA designed the space to include a large secluded outdoor patio in the back, main dining room overlooking the open kitchen’s hearth, bar/lounge, and takeaway cheesery with extensive bottle offerings in the front.

The restaurant’s name is a tribute to Thomas’ maternal grandmother, Mary Agnes, who enjoyed a gin and tonic when company came over.

Don’t miss this opportunity to expand your knowledge and indulge in delicious cheese and beverage pairings.
