Cosplay Continues Sunday at Anime Pasadena 2023

Published on Nov 1, 2023

Get ready to unleash your inner anime hero or heroine, because the Pasadena Convention Center is rolling out the red carpet for the fifth annual Anime Pasadena convention on Nov. 4 and 5.

This year’s event promises to be bigger, bolder, and even more anime-tastic, with an expanded two-day programming that includes more activities, including over 350 vendors, over 45 celebrity guests, music, games, panels, and more.

Michael Ross, Pasadena Center Operating Company CEO, said they’re expecting about 15,000 anime fans and cosplayers to be in Pasadena for the event.

“Anime Pasadena has been such an incredible event for the Pasadena Convention Center and local businesses over the years,” Ross said. “It’ll be a delight to see dedicated and diverse fans paint the town in cosplay as they enjoy the charm of Pasadena’s walkable downtown areas and array of shopping and dining experiences.”

Anime Pasadena has been attracting a diverse crowd of enthusiasts from near and far since it began five years ago. What makes Pasadena the preferred venue for this geeky gathering is not just the stunning architecture and beautiful gardens, but also the vibrant and walkable downtown, an array of shopping and dining experiences, and, of course, the warm welcome from the local businesses.

What to expect at Anime Pasadena 2023? Whether you’re a fan of global hits like One Piece, My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, or a dedicated gamer immersed in worlds like Final Fantasy Kingdom Hearts and Genshin Impact, this convention has something special in store for you.

You won’t just be a spectator; you’ll be part of the action. The event boasts a “Dragon Hall Z” with a free arcade zone, professional photo rooms, a maid café, Anime Fire giveaways, and a main stage that will keep you entertained throughout the weekend.

Gamers, get ready to battle it out in the gaming tournament, and if you’ve got a voice like an angel or just enjoy belting out anime tunes, the anime karaoke will be your stage.

And the fun doesn’t stop there! Attendees are encouraged to dress up as their favorite characters and join meet-ups throughout the convention. There’s an adult cosplay contest at 6 p.m. on Saturday and a kids cosplay contest at 5 p.m. on Sunday, so make sure your costumes are on point. Just remember to review the weapons and props policy, at www.animepasadena.com/proppolicy, to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment.

After all the daytime adventures, there’s an official Anime Pasadena after-party at the Convention Center on Saturday, Nov. 4, starting at 9 p.m. The party will feature a bunny-girl lounge, photo areas, drinks to keep you refreshed, a free arcade zone, and live music by Not A Phase. It’s the perfect way to keep the energy going well into the night.

Pre-registration opens on Friday, Nov. 3, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. The show opens on Saturday at 10 a.m. up to 7 p.m. with the after-party starting at 9 p.m.

On Sunday, the show opens from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Ticket options include two-day passes at $45, single-day tickets at $30, with kids 12 and under free with the purchase of an adult ticket. After party tickets are $20 each.

On-site parking is available at the Pasadena Convention Center, and there’s overflow parking available at Paseo, Del Mar Station, and Los Robles Garage, all within walking distance of the Convention Center.

Whether you’re a die-hard anime enthusiast or just looking for a good time, Anime Pasadena 2023 has you covered. Get your cosplay ready, embrace the anime spirit, and head to Pasadena for a weekend of fun, fandom, and unforgettable memories.
