One of Pasadena’s most vital arts nonprofits held one its most important fundraisers Saturday night.

The highly anticipated biennial contemporary art auction and gala, “Off the Wall,” took over the Armory Center for the Arts in Old Pasadena on April 8. The visual art nonprofit organization showcased more than 60 contemporary artworks from well-known Southern California artists at their Old Pasadena galleries. The event featured open bars with fine wines, cocktails, and gourmet street food, courtesy of some of the region’s most popular food trucks and Gale’s Restuarant.

The evening’s centerpiece was an online silent auction, which included works from the organization’s beloved Teaching Artist faculty. These artworks were installed in the Armory’s mezzanine, allowing guests to experience them in person while bidding for them online via Artsy.net, the event’s official auction partner.

The event also featured a musical performance by San Cha, known for their explosive storytelling style, as well as sets by KCRW DJ and Armory Alumni Ro “Wyldeflower” Contreras, adding to the evening’s festivities.

Founded in 1989, the Armory Center for the Arts is a nonprofit community-based arts center that aims to nurture the community and young people by creating, learning, and presenting art to promote equity and social justice. All proceeds from the auction and gala tickets went towards supporting the Armory’s art education and exhibitions programs.
