ArtCenter College of Design Adjunct Assistant Professor JD Buckley and Dr. Adelina Longoria, senior user experience (UX) researcher at SAP SuccessFactors, will discuss emerging frameworks, practices and strategies for inclusive research operations at 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, as part of ArtCenter’s Critical Discourse in Design (CDID) online series.

Moderated by Kevin Simmons, the conversation, “Building Black-Led Social Initiatives: Inclusive Research Operations,” will cover key considerations for aligning inclusive research to design practice and building inclusive research teams.

CDID is a forum on design, highlighting people, pedagogy and practice, and its social implications. The forum involves the greater design, education and technology communities through critical discourse about ways to divest design from inequitable systems and to foster the conditions for equitable learning and practice.

JonDelina Buckley is a member of the ArtCenter IxD (interactive design) faculty who over the last 15 years has successfully introduced new tools and techniques for UX research to a variety of Internet, entertainment, automotive, gaming, and medical companies including Yahoo!, Idealab, DirecTV, Kelley Blue Book, IGN and Kaiser Permanente.

A passionate advocate of collaborative design and data triangulation, Buckley employs a combination of research methods across desktop, tablet and mobile devices to inspire and inform innovative solutions.

Dr. Longoria is a Research Psychologist with over 15 years of experience designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative human behavior research and providing consultative services in the public and private sector.

She currently serves as a “voice of the user,” uncovering problems and understanding the context, pain points, and needs of users of enterprise software globally.

A Certified User Analyst (CUA), Dr. Longoria has an understanding of user research and designing innovative experiences that meet users’ needs.

Simmons is an ArtCenter graduate, obtaining a bachelor of science degree in industrial and product design in 2019. He currently works as UX Researcher at SAP SuccessFactors in Oakland.

The CDID forum is presented by the Toyota Motor Corporation Endowed Series. It is free to attend.
