On May 19th, the Cancer Support Community Greater San Gabriel Valley (CSC) hosted its 34th annual Angel Gala at the Art Deco masterpiece, Santa Anita Park. Themed “Dapper Derby Soiree,” the event brought together over 300 supporters for an evening filled with elegance, entertainment, and solidarity in the fight against cancer.

The gala began with a VIP Race and Reception, honoring Tom and Karen Capehart for their significant contributions to CSC’s mission. Also honored was Marguerite Marsh, Oak Tree Racing Association and USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. The picturesque surroundings of Santa Anita Park provided a stunning backdrop for the evening’s activities, which included a speakeasy cocktail reception, an awards presentation, and both live and silent auctions. Attendees had the chance to bid on unique prizes and participate in a raffle, adding to the excitement of the night.

The event was chaired by a dedicated team: Board Members and Benefactor Society Members Melissa Alcorn, Serge Melkizian, Dana Naples, and Guild Member Lydia Valenta. Their combined efforts and commitment ensured the gala was both memorable and successful.

The evening culminated in dinner and dancing, offering guests a perfect blend of celebration and philanthropy. The funds raised during the gala will support CSC’s ongoing efforts to provide vital resources and support to individuals and families affected by cancer.

The 2024 Angel Gala exemplified the community’s dedication to CSC’s mission and highlighted the importance of coming together to support those facing cancer. For more information about CSC’s programs visit www.cancersupportsgv.org/
