Everyone has a wish. Some great, some small, some temporary and immediate, and some meant to last forever. The Make-A-Wish Foundation knows this only too well.
Make-A-Wish traces its inspiration to Christopher James Greicius, an energetic 7-year-old boy battling leukemia who wished to be a police officer in 1980, Chris Greicius’ family and friends came together to help grant his wish ‘to be a police officer’.
Today, Make-A-Wish has been granting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses for 42 years, in nearly 50 countries across 5 continents all over the world. More than 520,000 wishes have been granted since then.
Every year, Make-A-Wish chapters and affiliates come together in celebrating World Wish Day on April 29, the anniversary of the first wish that inspired the founding of Make-A-Wish.
During the month of April, visitors to One Colorado are invited to take a wish tag from any retailer throughout the property or in Old Pasadena, make a wish and hang it on the wish tree located in the One Colorado courtyard.
Visitors may also scan the QR code displayed on the wish tag and enter for a chance to win a $1,500 One Colorado gift card.
For each tag hung, One Colorado and Etco Homes will donate $1 to the make a wish foundation. All of the wishing will culminate in a World Wish Day Cocktail Party at where else, the courtyard at One Colorado, on April 27, from 5 – 7:30 p.m., featuring Pasadena-born singer/songwriter Chris Pierce.
Pierce gained national prominence with “We Can Always Come Back to This,” which aired on three episodes of the NBC primetime series ‘This is Us’, then peaked at #1 on the Billboard blues chart, and #12 on iTunes’ Top 100.
Pierce has performed on stage with B.B. King, Seal, Al Green, Colbie Caillat, Keb’Mo’, Aaron Neville and many others. His 2021 album, “American Silence” has garnered critical acclaim from NPRm SiriusXM, and Rolling Stone, Americana UK, and more.
Pierce is slated to release a new full band studio album in 2022.
