Colorful and Cool, See This Online Collection of Vintage California Citrus Crate Labels

Published on Mar 26, 2022

The Pasadena Public Library is giving an online Pictorial Presentation of California Citrus Crate Labels on Tuesday, March 29, starting at 5 p.m.

The presentation will be on Zoom and is free to watch.

Presented by Allan Lagumbay of the Pomona Public Library, this event features the outstanding collection of Pomona Public Library’s Citrus Label Collection acquired during the 1960s and 1970s.

The collection contains over 3,500 citrus crate labels created for California and other West Coast fruit growers from the 1880s through the 1950s. Some of those in the collection are labels for Dena and Alta brands of oranges produced by the old Pasadena Orange Growers Association, as well as labels for Sierra Madre brand lemons packed by the Sierra Madre Lamanda Citrus Association.

You can browse through some of the images online through the Pomona Public Library’s digital images collection at http://content.ci.pomona.ca.us/index.php.
