Descanso Gardens’ Captivating Enchanted Forest of Light Returns to Brighten the Holidays

Published on Nov 20, 2021

Descanso Gardens in La Cañda Flintridge is lighting the holidays with an almost-magical, dazzling interactive experience that’s unlike anything else in Los Angeles this year.

If you haven’t experienced the Enchanted Forest of Light, it’s time. The captivating holiday highlight opens Sunday (careful: it’s sold out that night, but there’s plenty of opportunity before it closes January 9).

It’s breathtaking. Really.

Descanso’s Enchanted Forest of Light features a one-mile walk through unique lighting experiences in some of the most beloved areas of Descanso Gardens.

New this year will be an entire town of magical stained glass creations built in the Rose Garden by contemporary sculptor Tom Fruin. Some of the popular favorites that are returning include sparkling, swirling installations from HYBYCOZO on the Main Lawn, Flower Power on the Promenade and exquisite lighting effects in the Ancient Forest.

The event route takes most visitors about one hour to complete. Descanso Gardens recommends visitors allow one and a half hours to experience Enchanted. The event route is accessible for strollers, wheelchairs and mobility assistance devices.

Evenings in La Cañada Flintridge at this time of year are more than chilly so visitors are advised to dress warmly. Participants are also encouraged to wear walking shoes.

Tickets are for timed entry, with entry times starting at 5:30 and spaced 30 minutes in between. Enchanted Forest of Light is a rain-or-shine event and tickets are non-refundable.
