In a time in which lighthearted laughter seem foreigns, Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena is hosting a Special Storytime with Deanna Kizis and Sam Boughton, presenting “Please Don’t Read This Book” at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, on the bookstore’ Crowdcast channel.

This book dives into the hilarious details of both authors’ lives, including when Kizis once went to the grocery store wearing two different shoes by mistake.

“Please Don’t Read This Book” is Deanna Kizis’s first children’s book. The book will lead you through zany antics, silly sounds, and endless fun. Reading this breaks-the-fourth-wall book, although the cover tells you not to, will have readers coming back time and time again.

Kizis (deannakizis.com) is a journalist, author and screenwriter. She was the West Coast editor of Elle magazine and a contributor at Harper’s Bazaar, and her byline has appeared on Vanity Fair, People, Us, Details Self, Glamour, Redbook, Allure, Cosmopolitan, Entertainment Weekly, Nylon, and many others.

She’s also penned screenplays for ABC, MTV, Sony and Paramount. Kizis lives in Los Angeles and loves her dog, her kid, her cat, burritos, and gardening, but definitely not in that order.

Boughton (samboughton.co.uk) is an award-winning British artist and illustrator with degrees in illustration from Bristol UWE and the Cambridge School of Art. She is the author/illustrator of “Hello, Dinosaurs!” and “The Extraordinary Gardener.”

Boughton lives in Teignmouth, UK.
