PFAR in Action, known as PFARIA, will be introducing itself to the public on Thursday, November 17 with the PFARIA Fall Fiesta at Mijares Mexican Restaurant from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $60 per person, and half of the cost is tax-deductible. There will be food, a silent auction (auctioning game tickets, pottery, and an aerial tour of Los Angeles, for starters), fundraising, and impact statements from organizations PFARIA has supported throughout 2022.

Since its inception, PFARIA has aided over 1,200 people in need and counting. PFARIA is the community service initiative of Pasadena-Foothills Association of REALTORS® (PFAR). Its mission is “Working together to give back to the community in which we serve.”

Community initiatives like Socktober Sock Drive (where PFARIA evenly distributed a total of 644 pair of socks to Friends in Deed and The Midnight Mission), permit the organization to uphold its purpose by connecting with organizations that advocate for impoverished communities.

PFARIA’s fall backpack drive provided over 300 students with backpacks and school supplies for the school year. “It takes great partnerships…to be able to meet the needs of our students,” Martha Jimenez, Community Advocate for Families in Transition exclaims in a video message to PFARIA.

“There are so many organizations that need our help and dropping off the backpacks and school supplies at both 5 Acres and the PUSD [Families in Transition] and learning a bit about their programs was very eye-opening. [It] gave me a renewed drive to help…our community through PFAR in Action,” said PFARIA’s Co-Chair, Erik Okland.

PFAR in Action is the community service arm of the Pasadena-Foothills Association of REALTORS®. It is focused on community outreach and has planned events like hygiene, backpack, food, and clothing drives that serve people in need. Items collected are then distributed to organizations like American Red Cross, Union Station Homeless Services of Pasadena, Friends in Deed, and Five Acres to ensure PFARIA’s mission of partnerships and community service.
