Friends in Deed (FID) is creating a culinary competition and keeping it local by partnering with Chefs Thomas and Vanessa Tilaka Kalb of Agnes Restaurant and Cheesery located on Green Street in Pasadena. Inspired by popular television shows, this showdown will have aspiring chefs creating dishes from kitchen pantry staples and “mystery” ingredients chosen directly from FID's Food Pantry’s weekly grocery distributions. At the end of one hour, a panel of professional judges will name the winner of Cooking for a Cause 2024! Sponsors and VIP patrons will be able to view the challenge on-site at Agnes Restaurant. The event will also be livestreamed for the public free of charge. Stay tuned for full details, and save the date: Monday, June 24th! View Competitor Application! This year, Friends in Deed is opening up the cooking opportunity to young, aspiring chefs in the local community! Friends In Deed is looking for competitors to appear in Cooking for a Cause 2024. Aspiring young chefs will have the opportunity to cook on-site during the live event. Competitors will receive: • The opportunity to cook in front of dozens of community members, influential local chefs, and hundreds of viewers on livestream; • Professional headshot from esteemed photographer; • Social media shout-outs from Friends In Deed's organization pages, with thousands of followers; • A certificate of appreciation; • Gift certificate in gratitude for your time; • And the chance to give back and support families in the community who are food insecure and visit the FID Food Pantry.
