Foothill Family’s 4th annual Tip Your Cap and Pass the Hat event raised $91,520 to support Foothill Family’s life-changing programs on October 20, 2021, outdoors on the grounds of NOOR. Honored for their Community Storytelling, Foothill Family “Tipped their Cap” to Clear Channel Outdoor for stepping up in every way to partner and vastly expand Foothill’s reach through their enormous footprint in their service areas.

Emcee John Cervenka (The Aegis Group – Morgan Stanley Wealth Management) welcomed more than 200 guests, “Today is a special day as we re-connect in-person! We are here to make a great impact on Foothill Family’s clients. We are grateful to you all for being here with us and taking the time to be advocates for a great cause, where now more than ever, our families need you.” He then turned the stage over to Foothill Family Chief Executive Officer, Steve Allen.

“Foothill Family was on the front lines from the beginning to support our community – families facing food, housing and employment insecurity, social isolation and lack of access to affordable, high-quality childcare for essential workers,” said Allen. “Clear Channel Outdoor helped us let the community know we are here, and we can help.”

Clear Channel Outdoor’s Account Executive Michael Bergin accepted the award on behalf of the company. “It has been a rewarding privilege for us at Clear Channel Outdoor to be honored by Foothill Family. We look forward to supporting Foothill Family now and in the future as they continue to help those in need.”

The highlight of the event was hearing first-hand the impact Foothill Family’s services has had on one of their clients. “My name is Erika. I am 23 years old with a beautiful 7-month-old daughter. When I had my daughter, I wish I could say everything was sunshine after that, but it wasn’t. Postpartum is very real and it was a battle.”

“The growth that has occurred in my life since I started this program has been incredible. I’ve learned to love myself and what I have because if I don’t love myself, how am I supposed to raise my daughter showing her self-love. I no longer settle for things I wouldn’t want my daughter to settle for. I don’t surround myself with people or things I wouldn’t want for my daughter. I have learned my worth and am confident in who I am.”

“I can honestly say that with the way I was living and with the things that I was doing, there’s no way I would’ve made it to 23 if it wasn’t for my daughter. I call her my saving grace, along with Foothill Family. They have helped me become the best version of myself for her.”

The event ended with a friendly fundraising competition between teams. The winning team, captained by Board Chair Chuck Tapert, raised an impressive $27,650.
