On Thursday, September 28, Foothill Unity Center celebrated its Golden Plate Awards Gala at NOOR Pasadena. This grand event, themed “Changing Lives Together,” was an evening of celebration, and philanthropy.

Guests gathered to recognize and celebrate outstanding community members and organizations that made a significant impact on the lives of those in need. This year’s honorees were Donald and Maria Schweitzer, who were presented with the Heart in Hand Humanitarian Award; Mountainside Communion, recipients of the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Community Award; Assisteens of Arcadia, who received the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Youth Service Award; and Lois Gaston, who was presented with the Carl Foote Legacy Award.

The gala was not just a celebration of these honorees, but also a vital fundraising opportunity. As the biggest fundraiser of the year for Foothill Unity Center, the proceeds go directly to supporting neighbors in need.

Foothill Unity Center, a multi-service agency, serves as the region’s primary provider of integrated services that help individuals and families move out of poverty to reach economic stability. Their program model helps to advance equity in the San Gabriel Valley community. They provide access and opportunities, removing barriers for the low-income and working poor, providing a safety net to the disadvantaged to prevent homelessness, and supporting the underserved homeless population by addressing their full spectrum of needs for the whole family.
