Free 2020 Tax Preparation Assistance for Older Adults Will Be Virtual, Hosted by Pasadena Senior Center

Published on Jan 25, 2021

Adults 50 and older can get help preparing their 2020 federal and state income tax forms from TaxAide, an AARP program.

This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the service will be offered online instead of at the center.

Anyone who wants assistance from this no-contact program will need the following:

• An email address
• A computer with a camera and microphone, or a family member who can help with this
• The ability to email scanned or photographed copies of tax documents.

Next, they should call (626) 639-8760 and leave a voicemail with their name, area code and phone number. A trained, IRS-certified TaxAide representative will return the call in three to five business days and set a date for an online appointment.

The service will continue until April 15 as long as appointments are available. Appointments must be made at least two weeks in advance.

If coronavirus levels improve significantly, TaxAide hopes to offer no-contact service at the Pasadena Senior Center where older adults could bring their tax documents to be scanned and a counselor would prepare the returns and review them by phone.

For more information about online activities and other programs and services of the Pasadena Senior Center during the pandemic, visit www.pasadenaseniorcenter.org or call (626) 795-4331.

The center, at 85 E. Holly St., is an independent, donor-supported nonprofit organization. Doors are open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for social services and other critical services for older adults in need. Masks and social distancing are required.
