The Van Halen Stage at Playhouse Village Park will come alive with jazz music as the popular Jazz in the Park concert series returns for another summer season.

The free concerts will take place every Sunday in June and July from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the park located at 701 E Union St. The series is presented by Playhouse Village Association in partnership with Playhouse Village Foundation.

This June 8, Michael Haggins, who began his musical journey at the tender age of eight-years-old in Pasadena, will perform smooth jazz music. A renowned recording and touring artist, bassist, and composer, Haggins has his own unique sound & style which The Los Angeles Times has referred to as being “a special brand of smooth funk.”

On June 15, the concert will feature Marcelo Bucater & Friends, showcasing Brazilian rhythms and odd meters. Bucater is also part of the Drum Faculty at Los Angeles College of Music (LACM) in Pasadena, teaching private and group lessons.

Funding for the project comes partially from a grant provided by Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts and generous donors of Playhouse Village Foundation through proceeds from A Night Out In Playhouse Village.

Concert organizers encourage attendees to bring blankets or low chairs for seating and suggest picking up dinner from local restaurants to enjoy as a picnic during the performances.

The Jazz in the Park series has become a beloved summer tradition for Playhouse Village, drawing music lovers to the outdoor venue for an evening of entertainment in a community park setting.

All concerts are free and open to the public.
