The hands that craft precision wooden mutes for the New York Philharmonic will guide gentle yoga poses this Tuesday at Altadena Main Library.

Sienna George, a double bassist who holds a master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music, will lead a yoga class from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on September 16. She has performed with the Long Beach Symphony, Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, NY Arabic Orchestra and Seocho Philharmonic.

The session at 600 E. Mariposa St. in Altadena spotlights an intriguing crossover for George, whose primary work involves repairing and crafting wooden mutes for string instruments used by major orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, London Symphony, LA Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera.

The event draws attention to libraries’ ongoing efforts to foster community participation, as library program attendance nationally has not returned to pre-pandemic levels—a trend that continues to influence expected turnout for community events.
