With just hours remaining before the doors open on the opening night gala for the Pasadena Showcase House of Design for the Arts, nearly 30 interior and exterior designers put the finishing touches on this year’s home.
Out near the Gate House, Timothy John Palcic was watering his new lawn while Sheri Tipich put the last brush strokes on her “Pony Tales’ mural in an upstairs bedroom.
In the main house of the Potter Daniel Manor, high above the Arroyo Seco, painters painted corners, last-minute measurements were taken, and carpets were laid down.

The Grand Avenue home is making its third appearance as the showcase house, having been featured in 1976 and 1996.
The Showcase event also features an on-site pop-up store selling handmade designer goods, along with a gourmet restaurant. This year‘s restaurant, Roe Japanese Fusion, will feature a mixture of traditional Japanese cooking and American steakhouse. Along with Roe, the Tudor Rose Bistro, will feature full service dining every day of the tour beginning at 11 a.m., with burgers, sandwiches, and salads available.
The 2024 Pasadena Showcase House of Design for the Arts, which runs this year through May 19, was first begun in 1948 and has benefited hundreds of thousands of Pasadena area music students and organizations since then.
The all-volunteer non-profit California Corporation uses the funds to present three annual Music Programs, administer a large Gifts and Grants program, along with producing the Pasadena Showcase House of Design For the Arts as their annual fundraiser.
PSHA supports a range of programs at local schools, including musical theater, orchestra, jazz ensembles, marching bands, and choral groups.
The 2024 Pasadena Showcase House of Design will open its doors for its official unveiling at its annual gala event Friday, April 19. It will open to the public for tours from April 21 to May 19. More information is available at www.pasadenashowcase.org.
