Getting Your Easter On

Pasadena offers delicious choices for Easter Sunday brunch or dinner

Although Pasadena actually moves into the less restricted Orange Tier on Monday, your Easter and Spring dining options will still be a little less restrictive than last year’s with a number of local eateries offering a smart start to your Easter Sunday.

We’ve highlighted a few notable spots, although Pasadena is packed chock-a-block with terrific eating spots for special occasions.

You can begin your Easter celebration at Mi Piace, with their classic Bloody Mary made with Absolut vodka and a house-made spicy Bloody Mary mix, garnished with  a celery stalk and celery salted rim, or perhaps “The Influencer,” made with Joven Ilegal Mezcal, Dobel Blanco Tequila Sfumato, Amaro, grilled pineapple, habanero tincture, and pineapple habanero tincture, might wake you up quicker..

Less-indulgent guests can sip on The  “50/50,” a smoothie made with ice blended fresh squeezed orange juice and vanilla powder, before ordering a California Omelet prepared with sautéed cremini, oyster and shitake mushrooms, avocado, Brie cheese, shallots and diced  tomatoes.

Springtime lovers might opt for a Primavera Omelet made with Julienne fresh seasonal vegetables, a San Marzano marinara sauce,  fresh basil, and Parmigiano Reggiano, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil.

Mi  Piace’s variation on the classic Eggs Benedict combines two medallions of polenta  with sliced Prosciutto di Parma, two poached eggs, basil, and sundried tomatoes, topped with Hollandaise sauce.

Or hop onto another route and satisfy your sweet tooth with Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with house-made lemon zest, and topped  with freshly made blueberry compote, or the Waffles Bambino comprised of four baby waffles with sautéed bananas,  walnuts, and brown sugar, served with maple syrup on the side.

While  Easter Brunch might be the day’s theme, Mi Piace will also be open for Dinner, either indoors or outdoors.

Mi Piace will be open on Easter Sunday, April 4th, 2021 for Brunch and Lunch from 11 am to 4 pm, and for dinner from 4 pm to 11 pm. 25 East Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena, CA 91105; 626.795.3131; www.MiPiace.com

Elsewhere, Sunday bunnies looking for a modern traditional Easter Brunch can start the festivities at The Raymond 1886, with a tray of assorted house pastries featuring Danishes, scones, cinnamon rolls and  muffins, as they await Executive Chef Jonathan Quintana’s special Croque Madame prepared with country ham, egg, and Béchamel.

Other faithful and festive Brunch favorites include Blueberry &  Pistachio Pancakes, Eggs Your Way, Eggs Benedict, Breakfast Burrito, Chilaquiles, Breakfast Sandwich, Mediterranean  Frittata Veggie Hash, Avocado Toast, Smoked Salmon Toast, and much more.

Easter dinner revelers can enjoy  Chef Quintana’s Rabbit Pappardelle made with rabbit confit, peas, carrots and house-made  pappardelle, while sipping 1886 Barman Ned Kirby’s “Bad Bunny” cocktail comprised of Aged Genever, Velvet Falernum,  pineapple and fresh lime for indoor and outdoor dining. Either Pastry Chef Raymond  Morales’s Chocolate Peanut, a milk chocolate torte, peanut praline, and vanilla marshmallow, or the Easter Parfait, a  mascarpone parfait with rhubarb tuile and strawberry coulis, will top off the evening, helping you hop all the way to the hutch.

And maybe you’ve overlooked Marston’s? It’s just across the street from the Levitt Pavilion. While you might not be dropping by after a show any time soon,  the comfort food specialty spot will boast a Benedict-ful Easter brunch menu.

The tenderloin Benedict is part of the special menu, as is a Benedict that features smoked salmon. The Pasadena gem will have a lobster scramble for seafood lovers, too.
