It Turns Out South Pasadena’s History Is Fascinating

Published on Apr 15, 2022

Pasadena Walking Tours will lead a tour of South Pasadena on Saturday, April 16, featuring the city’s tree-lined streets and picturesque architecture, and a colorful history.

In this tour, you will learn more about South Pasadena’s relationship with its big sister and namesake to the north – Pasadena – and its attractions both past and present, including the Raymond Hotel, Fair Oaks Pharmacy, Rialto Theatre, and the Cawston Ostrich Farm.

You will also learn about the people who built the Ostrich Farm and why film studios still flock to it, other than for its attractiveness and traditional small-town Americana atmosphere.

The tour begins at the South Pasadena Metro Gold Line station at 950 Meridian Ave., and ends at Jones Coffee Roasters, at 1006 Mission Street. The tour will be about 1.1 miles long and take about two hours starting at 10 a.m.

All tours require advanced ticket purchases. Tickets are $28 for adults and children ages 13 and up, and $16 for kids five to 12. Toddlers four and under are free to join but must be accompanied by an adult.
