Something new is sprouting at Kidspace! KCM’s whimsical new outdoor exhibit, Muddy Boot Farm, invites children to “dig in” to the farm-to-table movement. Grab a trowel and a wheelbarrow and discover which crops are ripe and ready in the planting boxes (and meet some surprising garden friends along the way!). Prepare, sort, weigh, and sell your harvest at the farm stand. Explore a silly chicken coop and unwind with the hens after work. Daily programming will dig deeper into plant growth cycles. Explore the path our food takes from the seed to the store as you watch how seedlings sprout and grow. Delve into the world of decomposers as you learn how organic food scraps turn into rich nutrients to help fruits and vegetables grow. Kidspace thinks you’ll like it very mulch! Scout Programs offer an in-person learning experience offering scouts the opportunity to earn an exclusive Pasadena Humane patch by participating in education, enrichment and service. During this 75-minute program, scouts will be able to complete some requirements of their organizational patches as related to animals. Scouts will go on a behind-the-scenes tour of Pasadena Humane to learn how we care for the thousands of domestic and wild animals that come through its doors each year. Scouts will end their program by making a craft for shelter animals. Each date can accommodate one scout group of up to 20 scouts with 2 adult chaperons. The cost per session is $300.

In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of drawing and why it is so important to visual understanding. Students will also study beginning painting techniques in watercolor and acrylic. From gesture, to contour, to different methods of building value, to spatial relationships and understanding of color, focus will be on building technical skill but also enhancing observational techniques and how and why things work – ways body and mind connect and how to tap into that. Weekly lessons will also include study of classic and contemporary artists. This class is different every session so may be repeated to keep acquiring new skills. All materials will be provided. Thursdays, 3:30 to 5:00 pm (Indoors – Classroom) – 2/2 – 3/23
