Learn about the Phenomenon of Home DNA Testing with Pasadena Public Library

The Pasadena Public Library invites you to join them on Wednesday, Jan. 13, along with author Libby Copeland to her new book “The Lost Family.”

Part of the Library’s Authors and Their Journeys series, this presentation will not only talk about the book and years of research that Copeland put into it, but will also explore the extraordinary cultural phenomenon of home DNA testing, which is redefining family history.

Copeland’s “The Lost Family: How DNA Testing is Upending Who We Are,” published by Abrams in 2020, is “a fascinating account of lives dramatically affected by genetic sleuthing,” according to the Wall Street Journal. With more than 35 million people having been tested, a tipping point has been reached. Virtually all Americans are affected whether they have been tested or not, and millions have been impacted by significant revelations in their immediate families.

Copeland is an award-winning journalist who has written for the Washington Post, New York magazine, The New York Times, the Atlantic, and many other publications. She specializes in the intersection of science and culture. Copeland was a reporter and editor at the Post for 11 years, has been a media fellow and guest lecturer, and has made numerous appearances on television and radio.

The presented is ideal for adults 18 and above.
