Learn Flower Mandala Drawing with Artist Q

Published on May 16, 2021

USC Pacific Asia Museum (USC PAM) in Pasadena will be hosting a free mandala drawing workshop, which takes inspiration from flower motif designs. In this workshop, participants will learn how to create intricate geometric patterns using overlapping layouts of shapes and organic forms.

“Workshop@PAM: Flower Mandala Drawings” happens online on Thursday, May 20, 4 p.m., and will be taught by Los Angeles multi-disciplinary artist and educator Yeu Q Nguyen.

You can find out more about Q and her work on her website, www.yeuqnguyen.com, and connect with her on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter @yeuqnguyen.

A mandala is a spiritual symbol in Buddhism and Hinduism, a representation of the universe with an inner and outer world. The word “mandala” comes from Sanskrit, an ancient Indian language, and directly translates to “circle.”

Before going online for the workshop, you can find your mandala inspiration by exploring the USC Pacific Asia Museum’s collection at http://pamcollections.usc.edu/mwebcgi/mweb.exe.

For the workshop, you’ll need colored pens and markers, white drawing paper.
