Local Photog Alfred Haymond Celebrates Diversity in New Exhibition

Published on Jan 29, 2022

Works by local area photographer Alfred Haymond will be on display at the Pasadena Public Library’s Hastings Branch the whole month of February.

“Celebrating Diversity Through Photography” opens Tuesday, Feb. 1 and will be available for public viewing through Feb. 28.

Haymond, originally from Los Angeles, is a self-taught yet accomplished photographer who describes his approach simply as an “observational photographer.” He defines this as “the art of finding those mundane occurrences happening all around us and visually documenting them.” Haymond has established himself as an accomplished photographer, writer and musicologist whose body of work spans over three decades.

Haymond draws inspiration from iconic greats of the past, the likes of Gordon Parks, Vivian Maier and Arthur “WeeGee” Fellig, and takes an organic approach to composition whenever a camera is within reach.

“Celebrating Diversity Through Photography” is open to all ages.
