Museum Free Day Celebrating Pasadena’s 136th Birthday

Published on Jun 8, 2022

Pasadena Museum of History invites the public to join us in celebrating Pasadena’s 136th anniversary of incorporation by discovering the stories behind the most transformative decades in the City’s development during a Museum Free Day on Sunday, June 26, 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

The recently reopened exhibition, Starting Anew: Transforming Pasadena, 1890-1930, details a period of rapid growth, when this small agricultural community grew into a bustling winter resort and a vibrant young metropolis. Newly added content features Pasadena’s response to two back-to-back global crises, World War I and the Influenza Pandemic of 1918.

Young visitors (and crafters of all ages!) will enjoy Art2Go’s unique crafts workshop – creating beetles inspired by PMH benefactor Dr. Adalbert Fenyes’ prized collection of beetle specimens. He even had an insectarium in his garden!

The Finnish Folk Art Museum, displaying authentic Finnish artifacts representative of a 19th century “tupa” (farmhouse), will be open for touring throughout the afternoon. The Fenyes Mansion was the Finnish Consulate when Eva’ Fenyes’ granddaughter lived here with her husband, Consul Y.A. “George” Paloheimo.
