It’s very likely that Medicare is something you rarely, if ever, think about… fair enough.  Someone you know and love thinks about it a lot, which might mean you should think about it again.

Medicare is a federal health insurance program for Americans over 65 years of age, or disabled people under 65 years of age.    Now that Open Enrollment Period (OEP) is over, we are in an additional enrollment period , that allows you to make a one- time plan change.  The Open Enrollment Period (OEP) is from January 1, 2021 until March 31, 2021.  One can also enroll in a plan for the remaining year,  if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Plan (SEP).  Here are the following reasons for which you may be eligible:

  1. Just turned 65 years of age and need to enroll in a plan.
  2. You just moved to California and you need to make a change because you’re out of your service area.
  3. Members who just enrolled in Medi-Cal and need to go into a Medicare Medi-Cal plan can also change plans.
  4. Patients who develop a chronic illness outside of Open Enrollment Period are eligible to enroll into a Special Needs plan.

The Coronavirus pandemic has prevented Seniors to meet with Medicare Representatives.   Jane Reese-Wilkins & Associates have been participating in webinars, zoom appointments, and teleconference calls for Seniors without internet.  Our team will also speak with clients on the phone if they are more comfortable.   We also provide online applications where a DocuSign document is sent to Seniors for their electronic signature.

Seniors do have the option of calling and enrolling in a plan directly with the carrier, but Jane explained that “the benefit of using my company, is that you can hold us accountable. Our company is personally responsible for every patient we enroll.”

For example, “I received a call from a lady who enrolled in a plan directly with the carrier during Open Enrollment and now the carrier is saying that there is no record of her enrollment.  So now she’s locked out until next year and because they have no record of the enrollment, there is no one that can be held responsible”.

Jane Reese Wilkins & Associates is certified with thirteen (13) plans.  Jane explains…“We have several options and we place you in a plan that best suits your needs”.
