Cancer Support Community San Gabriel Valley (CSCSGV) announces that Lian Dolan will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for its 34th Angel Gala, themed “Dapper Derby Soiree.” The gala will take place at Santa Anita Park on Sunday, May 19th.

Lian Dolan is a Pasadena-based author, podcaster, and speaker, and is the author of five bestselling novels, including her latest, The Marriage Sabbatical. She is also the co-creator and producer of Satellite Sisters, a beloved podcast where she shares the mic with her sisters, providing a unique blend of humor, advice, and sisterly camaraderie.

Dolan’s connection with Cancer Support Community dates back to the inaugural Ladies Night Out event in 2012, where she first served as emcee and auctioneer. Reflecting on her involvement, Dolan remarked, “My mother had just gone through cancer, and it was clear to me that having support, information, and community was key to coping with the disease for both the patient and the caregiver. Knowing that Cancer Support Community provides all three free of charge made working with them more meaningful.”

In 2019, Lian was diagnosed with colon cancer after a routine colonoscopy. She is grateful to her doctors, nurses, and support team. She is currently cancer-free. “It’s hard to explain to people the dividing line of a cancer diagnosis. One day you don’t have cancer and the next day you do. It’s disorienting and very scary. Having been through the experience now myself, I appreciate the work of the Cancer Support Community even more.”

As Master of Ceremonies for the Angel Gala, Dolan brings not only her talent for storytelling and hosting but also her personal experience with cancer, making her a poignant and inspiring presence for attendees. Her dedication to raising awareness and support for those affected by cancer embodies the spirit of the mission of Cancer Support Community.

“We are honored to have such an amazingly talented woman as our Master of Ceremonies who also has a longstanding relationship with Cancer Support Community and understands the importance of mental health support for those impacted by cancer,” remarked Rachimah ‘Rae’ Magnuson, Director of Events and Marketing.

The 34th Angel Gala promises to be an unforgettable evening filled with elegance, entertainment, and philanthropy, all in support of Cancer Support Community’s vital programs and services, offered free of charge to anyone impacted by cancer. Guests can look forward to an evening of live music and dancing, horse race viewing, delicious dining, awards, and exciting auctions, all set against the backdrop of the historic and iconic Santa Anita Park.
