Pasadena Humane Hosts Free Microchip Clinics in Lead Up to Busy 4th of July Holiday

Published on Jun 2, 2021

More pets go missing during the 4th of July than any other time of the year. Making sure your pet has a current ID tag and microchip is the best way to help a lost pet find its way back home. To help prepare for the upcoming holiday, Pasadena Humane is hosting two free microchip clinics.

A microchip is a permanent pet ID, about the size of a grain of rice, that goes under your pet’s skin. Unlike ID tags which can fall or be taken off, a microchip is with your pet for the rest of their life. If your lost pet is brought to a shelter or vet’s office, they will be scanned for a microchip and the registered owner will be contacted. To help facilitate a quick reunion, make sure your pet’s microchip company always has your current contact information.

The free microchip clinics, made possible thanks to a donation from Michelson Found Animals, will be held on June 16 and June 19 at Pasadena Humane by appointment only. No walk-ins will be permitted.

Appointments are filling fast. Please visit pasadenahumane.org/vax and click “Make an Appointment” to book your pet’s spot.
