Pasadena Humane’s ‘Adopt A Boo’ Event Offers Big Love for Small Fee This Halloween

Published on Oct 22, 2023

As Halloween approaches, Pasadena Humane is offering a heartwarming treat for pet lovers and big dog enthusiasts with their “Adopt A Boo” event, now running through Halloween.

The Halloween-themed adoption promotion is all about giving big dogs their much-deserved spotlight. The best part is that all dogs over 31 pounds are available for a mere $10 adoption fee. To sweeten the deal, adopters will also receive a special trick-or-treat doggie bag filled with goodies for their newly adopted furry friends.

While small dogs find homes quickly, their larger counterparts often remain in shelters longer, Pasadena Humane said. The organization wants to bring awareness to the plight of big dogs and encourage people to give some of these larger dogs a second look.

“It may seem difficult to have a larger dog if you don’t have a large yard, or a yard at all. However, big dogs can be great apartment dogs, too,” Dia DuVernet, Pasadena Humane President & CEO, said. “There is a common misconception that big dogs need a yard. What they really need is a loving home, a walk or two a day and a comfy couch.”

All dogs adopted during “Adopt a Boo” will be spayed/neutered, brought up to date on vaccines and microchipped, ensuring a smooth transition into their new homes. Adopters will also receive a complimentary health examination at a participating veterinarian and a discount at the Pasadena Humane Shelter Shop.

To facilitate adoptions, Pasadena Humane has made it easy for prospective pet parents to view available dogs and schedule appointments at www.pasadenahumane.org/adopt.

The “Adopt A Boo” event kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pasadena Humane, located at 361 S Raymond Ave.
